What happens at Bethany?

Welcome to Bethany Baptist Church

Sunday worship services are held at 10.30 am and 6.00 pm and everyone is welcome to attend.  The format could be called traditional but there is always a warm, friendly atmosphere where we can freely worship God together.  The hymn books we use are Baptist Praise and Worship and Mission Praise.  Holy Communion is celebrated every Sunday morning and there is an opportunity for children to attend our Junior Church.  Refreshments are served in the main church hall following Sunday morning worship where it is always lovely to catch up with friends for fellowship over a cuppa.  Our Sunday evening service is at 6.00 pm and we often come together for worship with other local churches.

At 4.00 pm on the second Sunday of each month we enjoy a couple of hours with the children and our music group. We have called this service ‘Lighthouse’ as we seek to extend God’s light through singing songs and teaching our children stories about Jesus.  We sometimes use ‘Messy Church’ material and this is always a fun time where the children can do crafts which have been prepared using a Bible based theme.  All children aged from 0 – 90 are welcome and we follow this with a little tea party.  On ‘Lighthouse’ Sundays there is no evening worship service at Bethany.

On Thursday mornings at 10.00 am we hold a worship service which lasts just half an hour. This service has often been referred to as an oasis of spiritual refreshment in the middle of the week.

Prayer and Bible Study is important to us and we have four weekly Bible Study Housegroups which meet during school term time. An evening Prayer meeting is held every month.

We are blessed with excellent facilities at our church.  Behind our main church building there are four halls/meeting rooms, a well equipped kitchen and toilet facilities.   Our halls are rarely empty with something going on most evenings.  Other Bethany groups are Mums and Toddlers, Brownies, Guides and Evergreens.

Please see our calendar for dates and times of all our activities.

Our halls and facilities, including a private car park, can be booked for community classes and events as well as private functions.
