Prayer

Prayer is the gateway to God’s love.

There is a sense in which most people have uttered a prayer at sometime or at some point in their lives. It may have been a moment of desperation. A time of crisis. An urgent request for help, A time of complete failure and frustration, or an occasion of an achievement beyond our expectation.

Whatever may have been the reason to pray, one thing is certain you did utter a prayer. What is prayer? Well it is a deeply personal encounter with your God. We learn to pray by praying. Our prayers can be formal or informal. Private or with others. With words or without words. In times of Joy or sorrow. Despair or delight. There is also great value in learning from others how to pray.

Listening to them or reading their prayers. Yet in the end there is no substitute for our willingness to do as St. John of the Cross once wrote, ‘Stand before our God in the nakedness of one’s faith and pray’. We at Bethany believe in Prayer and its unique power and value to encourage and sustain a Christian lifestyle in today’s World.
